It\u2019s important that you understand how much you are borrowing in total, and how and when you must pay it back.<\/p>\n\t\t\t    <\/div>\r\n\t\t\t    \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n<section class=\"fy-wysiwyg fy-two-column-list fy-mt-80 fy-mb-100\">\r\n\t<div class=\"container\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\r\n\t\t\t<div data-aos=\"fade-up\" class=\"fy-two-column-list__left col-12 col-md-6 col-lg-5\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wysiwyg\">\r\n\t\t\t      <h2>All About Interest Rates<\/h2><br>\r\n\t\t\t      <p>Interest is the cost you pay for borrowing money from a lender. If you have subsidized loans, you are not responsible for paying the interest that accrues while in school. If you have unsubsidized loans, you are responsible for the interest that accrues, even while you\u2019re in school.<\/p>\n\t\t\t    <\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<div data-aos=\"fade-up\" data-aos-delay=\"100\" class=\"fy-two-column-list__right col-12 col-md-6 offset-lg-1 col-lg-6\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wysiwyg\" style=\"padding-bottom: 3rem;\">\r\n\t\t\t      <ul>\n<li>Interest rates and fees tend to be lower for federal student loans vs. private student loans.<\/li>\n<li>Interest is calculated as a percentage of the unpaid principal amount you borrowed:<\/li>\n<li>Interest amount = (unpaid principal balance X interest rate) x number of days since last payment<\/li>\n<li>The rates for direct loans first disbursed (paid) on or after July 1, 2024, and before July 1, 2025 are 6.53% for Undergraduate students and 8.08% for Graduate or Professional students.<\/li>\n<li>You will not be able to pay down the principal amount of your loan until you\u2019ve paid all your unpaid interest. Please contact the Financial Services Office to ensure you understand the terms of any loan you take out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t    <\/div>\r\n\t\t\t    \r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/section>\r\n\n\n\r\n<div class=\"fy-text-block\">\r\n\t<div class=\"fy-text-block__container fy-text-block__container--light-teal container\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\r\n\t\t\t<div class=\"fy-text-block__content col-12 col-sm-12 offset-md-1 col-md-10 offset-lg-2 col-lg-8\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<h2 data-aos=\"fade-up\" class=\"fy-text-block__title fy-h2\">Fees<\/h2>\r\n\t\t\t\t<p data-aos=\"fade-up\" class=\"fy-text-block__text fy-paragraph\">Loan fees are calculated as a percentage of the total loan, and are subtracted from the loan amount before it is disbursed to you. That means you will receive a smaller amount than you borrowed, but you are still responsible for repaying the entire amount of the loan, plus any interest that accrues.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"container\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col-12 col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-10 offset-lg-1 ecity2\">\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<section class=\"fy-wysiwyg fy-two-column-list fy-mt-80 fy-mb-100\">\r\n\t<div class=\"container\">\r\n\t\t<div class=\"row\">\r\n\t\t\t<div data-aos=\"fade-up\" class=\"fy-two-column-list__left col-12 col-md-6 col-lg-5\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wysiwyg\">\r\n\t\t\t      <h2>Repayment<\/h2><br>\r\n\t\t\t      <p>Your loan(s) must be repaid\u2013including all accrued interest and deducted fees\u2013within 10 years after you stop attending school. You must repay your loan(s) even if you do not complete your education, you are not satisfied with your education, or you cannot find employment.<\/p>\n\t\t\t    <\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<div data-aos=\"fade-up\" data-aos-delay=\"100\" class=\"fy-two-column-list__right col-12 col-md-6 offset-lg-1 col-lg-6\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wysiwyg\" style=\"padding-bottom: 3rem;\">\r\n\t\t\t      <p>You must notify your lender (or current holder) in writing if you:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Change your name, address, or phone number<\/li>\n<li>Transfer to another school<\/li>\n<li>Drop to less than half-time or withdraw<\/li>\n<li>Change your graduation date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Before leaving Forsyth Tech, you must attend an exit interview. You may apply for a deferment at any time during your grace or repayment period. Please contact your lender or the USF financial aid office for a list of current deferment options.<\/p>\n\t\t\t    <\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t<div data-aos=\"fade-up\" data-aos-delay=\"100\" class=\"fy-two-column-list__right col-12 col-md-6 offset-lg-1 col-lg-6\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wysiwyg\" style=\"padding-bottom: 3rem;\">\r\n\t\t\t      <p>If you do not qualify for deferment, another option is forbearance. Your lender might allow you to stop making payments temporarily. They may also extend your payment period or allow you to make payments in smaller amounts than originally scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The main difference between deferment and forbearance is that deferment can be interest-free for certain types of loans. Forbearance accrues interest, increasing the amount you must repay.
