Forsyth Technical Community College is proud to announce that Ava Alfonso, a dual enrollment high school student, is making history as the first student in the dual enrollment program to serve as President of the Student Government Association (SGA). Since her term began in July 2024, Ava has demonstrated remarkable leadership and dedication, balancing her role as SGA President with her studies as she works toward both her high school diploma and an Associate in Science degree.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Ava\u2019s presidency is marked by a commitment to improving communication and enhancing student resources. She is spearheading the development of a new communication system aimed at streamlining how students access essential information. By creating an organized, centralized hub on the college\u2019s main platform, she hopes to replace the clutter of emails and newsletters with a more effective and user-friendly system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

In addition to her communication initiatives, Ava is leading an effort to provide free menstrual products on campus. She is personally managing the distribution, advocating for funding, and ensuring female students have access to these essential resources.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

\u201cAs the first dual enrollment student to hold this position, I feel an immense responsibility to leave a lasting impact at Forsyth Tech,\u201d said Ava. \u201cThis role has already taught me so much about leadership, perseverance, and what I can accomplish when I set my mind to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Ava\u2019s leadership journey extends beyond campus. She will soon attend leadership conferences in Seattle, Washington, and Washington, D.C., where she will gain insights and strategies from seasoned leaders nationwide. These experiences will further enhance her ability to make meaningful contributions to Forsyth Tech and beyond.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Her innovative ideas and passion for service reflect Forsyth Tech\u2019s mission to empower students to succeed and lead.
