It will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology and legal implications. Upon completion, students should be prepared to take the competency exam and demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. 24 Hours (No Clinical)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: The course is not a Med Tech training program. The medication aide employee must have the ability to verbalize coherently and appropriately.<\/td><td>Ability to converse with staff and patients on the correct time, dose and route of medications.<\/td><\/tr><tr><th>CRITICAL THINKING\/ PROBLEM SOLVING<\/th><td>Ability to recognize unusual or abnormal findings, act and report accordingly.<\/td><td>Ability to determine whether a medication is appropriate when a patient has a changed condition or a medication provided is not the one ordered.<\/td><\/tr><tr><th>INTERPERSONAL SKILLS<\/th><td>Can react to both positive and negative situations with patients and staff.<\/td><td>Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
